fiery-crash-kills-1-hospitalizes-32-in-hacienda-heights

One person bit the dust and 32 peeps were sent to the hospital on Mother’s Day morning after a fiery crash between a tour bus and an SUV on the 60 Freeway in Hacienda Heights. The fuzz got the call at 5:07 a.m. Sunday. When they rolled up, the SUV was already on fire, as per the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The driver of the SUV was stuck inside and didn’t make it out alive. The flames didn’t spread to the bus, which had 63 folks on board, including the driver, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Thirty-two individuals were rushed to the hospital, with at least two in critical condition. The other 31 passengers were given the all-clear to bounce. The reason behind the crash is still up in the air. Pics from the scene show the bus’s windshield totally busted and the front bumper all smashed up.

The westbound 60 Freeway between Azusa Avenue and Hacienda Boulevard was closed for over two hours while firefighters tended to the passengers and CHP officers checked out the crash. A couple of lanes were back in action by mid-morning.

The authorities are asking anyone who saw the crash go down to hit up the California Highway Patrol at 1-800-TELL-CHP (1-800-835-5247).

Not really sure why this matters, but maybe it’s just me, but I feel like we could all use a little more insight into what went down on the 60 Freeway that fateful Mother’s Day morning. It’s a real tragedy, no doubt about it. Let’s hope the authorities get to the bottom of things soon.
