Former Cedars-Sinai Physician Faces Allegations from 107 More Women
In a shocking turn of events, over 100 women have come forward with new allegations against obstetrician-gynecologist Dr. Barry J. Brock and the medical facilities he was associated with. These women claim that Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and other practices were aware of his alleged sexual abuses and medical misconduct but chose to conceal them. The new plaintiffs join 60 former patients who filed lawsuits last year, accusing Brock of inappropriate behavior that led to lasting physical complications.
Allegations and Denials
Dr. Barry J. Brock, 74, has vehemently denied all allegations of impropriety. Despite this, the lawsuit alleges that Cedars-Sinai Medical Center received numerous complaints about his behavior dating back several decades. Shockingly, the suit claims that Brock continued to harm patients under the guise of medical care from 1979 through August of 2024.
In a statement, a Cedars-Sinai spokesperson expressed that the alleged behavior by Dr. Brock goes against the core values of the medical center. They confirmed that Brock no longer has privileges to practice medicine at Cedars-Sinai and that the matter has been reported to the California Medical Board.
Allegations of Sexual Misconduct
The most recent lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, details disturbing accounts of Brock’s alleged misconduct. Several women claim that he inappropriately touched their breasts and genitals during examinations. Some even allege that he made lewd comments and conducted vaginal examinations without wearing gloves, a clear example of sexual impropriety.
Patient Experiences
Amidst these allegations, the lawsuit sheds light on the deeply uncomfortable experiences faced by former patients. Patients recount instances where Brock made inappropriate comments about their bodies during examinations, leaving them feeling violated and distressed. One patient even alleged that Brock made derogatory remarks about her sexual orientation, showcasing a pattern of unprofessional behavior.
Lasting Physical Complications
Several patients reported lasting physical complications as a result of Brock’s care, including painful intercourse and discomfort due to post-birth stitches. The lawsuit also reveals that some patients attempted to voice their concerns to office staff, nurses, and other doctors, only to be dismissed or told to overlook Brock’s behavior.
In a startling revelation, it was disclosed that Brock continued to practice at Beverly Hills OB-GYN and Rodeo Drive Women’s Health Center after leaving Cedars-Sinai, further raising concerns about patient safety and well-being. This case highlights the urgent need for accountability and transparency within the medical community to ensure the protection of patients from such egregious misconduct.
