Haason Reddick, the edge rusher for the New York Jets, seems to have a backup plan if he doesn’t get his desired contract this offseason. Reddick, who was acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles, has been skipping workouts, including OTAs and mandatory minicams, as he continues to fight for a new contract.

Despite his absence from workouts, head coach Robert Saleh mentioned that Reddick is in a good mental state and working hard. However, Reddick’s recent Instagram story showed him dressed as a Samurai in Japan, captioned “The Lost Samurai.”

The Jets traded a conditional 2026 third-round draft pick to the Eagles for Reddick, with the possibility of it becoming a second-round pick based on certain performance thresholds. Reddick had an impressive 11 sacks in 17 games last season for the Eagles, totaling 50.5 sacks over the last four seasons, ranking him fourth in the NFL.

Coach Saleh praised Reddick’s versatility and dynamic play style, highlighting his ability to rush from different angles. Despite a sack drought in the last five games of the previous season, Reddick’s performance was affected by a change in defensive play-calling in December.

On a different note, quarterback Aaron Rodgers also had an unexcused absence from minicamp, with rumors suggesting he was on an ayahuasca retreat. Both Reddick and Rodgers seem to be taking unconventional paths during the offseason.

While Reddick’s contract situation remains uncertain, his dedication to training and unique offseason adventures showcase his determination to excel on and off the field. It will be interesting to see how these experiences impact his performance in the upcoming season and whether he can secure the contract he desires.
