First responders in Illinois were hailed as heroes after rescuing a man trapped under a tractor in a creek following a bridge collapse. The dramatic incident took place in Woodstock on Sunday afternoon, prompting a swift response from the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District.

The rescue operation involved 10 units rushing to the scene on N. Route 47 after receiving reports of a man pinned under a tractor due to a collapsed bridge on the property. The first unit arrived within minutes and found the man partially submerged in the creek but conscious, despite being trapped for possibly more than 30 minutes.

The victim, whose identity was not disclosed, suffered serious injuries from the collapse and entrapment, along with severe hypothermia from the water exposure. Firefighters managed to lift the heavy tractor off the man and transported him to an ambulance waiting to take him to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

In addition to the rescue efforts, a minor Hazmat response was initiated to address fluids leaking from the tractor into the creek. Absorbent materials were deployed to contain the spill and prevent further contamination of the waterway.

The tractor was successfully removed from the creek by 6 p.m., with cleanup operations swiftly following. The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District commended the collaborative efforts of all responders involved in the rescue mission, emphasizing the importance of quick and efficient action in such emergencies.
