League of Legends is undergoing a major change in the Americas region in 2025. The North and South American teams will be merging to form a new league called League of Legends Championship of The Americas (LTA). This new league will combine the LCS, CBLoL, and LLA leagues to create a unified competitive circuit for fans to follow.
The LTA will be divided into two conferences, LTA North and LTA South, with eight teams in each conference. The teams will compete in three splits throughout the 2025 season. Each split will feature matches between teams from both conferences, with a unique Pick and Play system introduced in Split Three to add an exciting twist to the competition.
In terms of qualification for LoL Worlds 2025, three LTA teams will qualify for the tournament. The top two teams from each conference will secure spots, while the remaining four teams will compete for the final slot. The champion of these six teams will win the first-ever LTA trophy.
The LTA North Conference will have six Partner Slots and two Guest slots, while the LTA South Conference will feature seven Partner Slots and one Guest Team slot. A total of 16 teams will be competing in the LTA 2025 season, including established teams from the LCS, LLA, and new entrants like Disguised and Isurus Gaming.
As a Guest Team, 100 Thieves will have the opportunity to compete in international tournaments in 2025 but will not be eligible for the Promotion tournament for the 2026 season. Disguised and Isurus Gaming, as Guest Teams in their respective conferences, will have similar opportunities to compete and retain their spots through Promotion Tournaments.
The LTA 2025 season is set to begin on January 25, 2025, with teams from both conferences gearing up for the journey towards the World Championship stage. Fans can also look forward to the League of Legends Worlds 2024 Grand Final between Bilibili Gaming and T1 on November 2, 2024.
Overall, the new League of Legends Championship of The Americas promises to bring an exciting and competitive experience for fans of the game in the North and South American regions. With established teams and new entrants vying for spots in international tournaments, the 2025 season is shaping up to be one full of thrilling matches and intense competition.
