Miami Dolphins linebacker Jordyn Brooks is set to make a significant impact on the team’s defense for the upcoming season. The Dolphins signed Brooks as an unrestricted free agent from the Seattle Seahawks, adding a veteran presence to the linebacker corps.

Standing at 6-0 and weighing 240 pounds, Brooks brings five years of experience to the Dolphins, having been the Seahawks’ first-round pick in the 2020 draft. Despite a slight dip in his performance last season, Brooks started all 16 games and recorded impressive stats, including his first career interception and 4.5 sacks.

Pro Football Focus gave Brooks an overall grade of 57.3 for the 2023 season, ranking him 68th out of 82 linebackers graded. However, his pass rush grade of 85.0 was among the top four at his position. Brooks signed a lucrative three-year contract with the Dolphins, potentially worth up to $26 million with $16 million guaranteed.

As the Dolphins head into training camp, Brooks is expected to play a key role in the defense alongside David Long Jr. Both linebackers are likely to see significant playing time, with Brooks viewed as an upgrade over Jerome Baker. His speed and proficiency as a blitzer make him a valuable asset to the team.

During training camp, Brooks will focus on mastering coordinator Anthony Weaver’s defensive system to ensure a seamless transition into the regular season. His ability to contribute as a pass rusher will be a key factor in the Dolphins’ defensive success.

In addition to Brooks, the Dolphins have been gearing up for the upcoming season with previews of other key players, including running backs De’Von Achane and Salvon Ahmed, tackle Terron Armstead, linebacker Shaquil Barrett, and wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Braxton Berrios, among others.
