The Seahawks are gearing up for their Week 13 game against the Jets with a healthy roster, a rare occurrence at this point in the season. All 53 players on the roster participated fully in Friday’s practice, with only two players, tight end Brady Russell and safety AJ Finley, listed as questionable due to foot and ankle injuries, respectively. The rest of the team is ready to hit the field.
Star receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, along with defensive end Leonard Williams, are all set to play despite missing practice earlier in the week. Coach Mike Macdonald confirmed that both Metcalf and Lockett are good to go for the upcoming game.
Additionally, the Seahawks will welcome back tight end Noah Fant and receiver/kick returner Laviska Shenault Jr., who missed the previous game due to injuries. However, outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu is not expected to play this week but has returned to practice after a six-game absence.
In a surprising move, rookie Sataoa Laumea will be starting at right guard in place of the injured Anthony Bradford. Laumea, a sixth-round pick out of Utah, will be making his first start in the NFL and his first appearance on game day. Macdonald praised both Laumea and fellow rookie Christian Haynes for their efforts in practice, ultimately giving Laumea the starting nod for the game.
When asked about the possibility of a guard rotation, Macdonald hinted that it could happen depending on how the game unfolds. He expressed confidence in both Laumea and Haynes and emphasized that the decision to start Laumea was based on his performance and not a reflection of Haynes’ abilities.
Laumea himself acknowledged the growth he has experienced since joining the team and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn from his teammates in the offensive line room.
Looking ahead to the game against the Jets, the Seahawks are hoping to maintain their winning streak and secure a crucial victory as they push for a playoff spot. With a healthy roster and a mix of experienced players and promising rookies, the team is poised for success in the upcoming matchup.
