So, like, police found nearly $4 million in stolen stuff, like coffee, tequila, shoes, body wash, pet food, and bitcoin-mining computers that were taken by some South American gang. Two dudes, Oscar David Borrero-Manchola, 41, and Yonaiker Rafael Martinez-Ramos, 26, got arrested for stealing, selling, and moving all this stuff, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
The cops found about $1.2 million worth of stolen junk in storage units in the San Fernando Valley, where they found speakers, clothes, and other random things. They even stopped a shipment of stolen bitcoin-mining computers that were supposed to go to Hong Kong. These computers were worth $2.7 million, according to the police.
The investigation involved search warrants and detective work from the Los Angeles Police Department’s cargo theft unit, along with help from other police departments. Borrero-Manchola was arrested on April 15 and taken to a jail in Van Nuys. He got released the next day and has to go to court on May 7. Martinez-Ramos was arrested on Sunday and is in jail, waiting to go to court on Thursday.
The cops say they might arrest more people in connection to this whole thing. They also mentioned that South American theft groups have been coming to California and stealing stuff from rich neighborhoods. In May 2024, four Colombian guys got arrested for trying to steal stuff, and in February, seven Chileans got charged for stealing over $2 million worth of stuff from pro athletes’ homes. So, yeah, that’s the latest gossip.
