The University of Montana Alumni Association is excited to invite everyone to join in the celebration of Homecoming Week from Oct. 7-12 with the theme of “A Fall Affair.” This annual event is an opportunity to honor the strong connections that alumni and friends have with the university.

LeAnn Layton, the UM director of alumni relations, expressed her anticipation for another fantastic Homecoming Week. She stated, “We can’t wait to host another Homecoming Week to celebrate the enduring bonds our alumni and friends share with this University.” The theme of “A Fall Affair” is especially appropriate as it reflects the vibrant traditions of the institution against the backdrop of the beautiful autumn season on campus.

Throughout Homecoming Week, the UM Alumni Association has organized a series of events that are open to the public, with a special invitation extended to the media to attend. Here are some key events to look forward to:

Griz on Tap: Taking place on Thursday, Oct. 10, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Red’s Bar on S. Ryman St. in downtown Missoula, Griz on Tap promises a fun evening for all attendees.

Yell Night Pep Rally: Join the excitement at the Yell Night Pep Rally on Friday, Oct. 11, at 8 p.m. on the UM Oval. The event will showcase the UM Marching Band, the Grizzly Football team led by Coach Bobby Hauck, and the lighting of the iconic M.

Homecoming Parade: Starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, the Homecoming Parade will stage in downtown Missoula near Higgins Avenue and Spruce Street. The parade will proceed south along Higgins Avenue, cross Beartracks Bridge, and turn east onto University Avenue towards the campus.

Alumni Tailgate: Following the Homecoming Parade, the Alumni Tailgate will take place from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. near the Adam’s Center and Washington Grizzly Stadium at the River Bowl. It’s a perfect opportunity for some pre-game festivities before the big football game.

The highlight of UM’s Homecoming Week is the annual football game, which will kick off at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, as the Griz face off against Northern Arizona in Washington-Grizzly Stadium.
