Magic was in the air when Michelle Navarro and Christopher Zegunis first met at a six-week magic course in Los Angeles. The two bonded over their shared love of Disneyland and their strategic approach to visiting the theme park. The connection between them was immediate, with Ms. Navarro recalling thinking that Mr. Zegunis was a cute guy.
Over the course of the six weeks, as they learned and practiced magic tricks together, crushes developed and their bond grew stronger. On the last day of the course, Mr. Zegunis decided to make his move and asked Ms. Navarro out on a date. They went to a gastro pub called Public School 310 in Culver City, California, and then moved on to a bar where they spent the evening laughing and having a great time.
Ms. Navarro, 39, works as a senior director of media services at the Fox Corporation and is a Los Angeles native who graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in industrial and systems engineering. Mr. Zegunis, 53, is a logistics coordinator at Toms Shoes who moved to Los Angeles from Rockford, Illinois, 25 years ago.
The couple decided to move in together in Los Angeles in August 2019, just a few months before the start of the coronavirus pandemic. This period served as a test for their relationship, and Mr. Zegunis realized that Ms. Navarro was the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. The couple’s love story is a testament to the magic of connection and the wonder of falling in love.
Their story serves as a reminder that love can be found in unexpected places and that shared interests and experiences can lead to deep and meaningful connections. The couple’s journey from a magic class to a lifetime commitment is a beautiful example of how love can blossom and grow, even in the most unlikely of circumstances.
